April 2020: A Month Like No Other
This month, the ZIM team has been keeping very busy supporting our clients with writing emergency grants. For two consecutive weeks, the team set new records: we submitted more than 60 grants on behalf of our clients, mostly for emergency funding support! We’re blown away and humbled by how our clients have been able to pivot their services and honored to support their work. Read on for a glimpse of how the nonprofit sector has been driving impact during coronavirus—and more importantly, how you can get involved.
For Those Who Are Itching to Pitch In
This month, we took to the blog to share concrete ways you can support your community during the coronavirus crisis. With so many organizations doing fantastic work, it can be hard to know where to start! One of the biggest opportunities right now is to be part of #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving to emergency coronavirus response efforts planned for May 5, 2020.

Client Spotlight: Chanda Plan Foundation Launches Mask Mission

Chanda Plan Foundation, our wonderful client who serves people with long-term physical disabilities through integrative therapies, primary care, and other complementary services at the Chanda Center for Health, is stepping up to support their community, which is vulnerable to the more severe effects of coronavirus due to compromised immune and respiratory systems as a result of their disability Since mask-wearing is one of the most effective methods of reducing the spread of coronavirus, Chanda Plan Foundation is mobilizing volunteers to sew beautiful, functional masks. Chanda Plan Foundation is sending mask kits complete with bonus essential oils and important information to those with physical disabilities throughout the Metro Denver area. Meet Our Newest ZIMmer, Leah W!

This spring ZIM welcomed Leah Weinberg to the team as our newest Grant Researcher & Writer! Leah brings 10 years of experience in higher education and a passion for nonprofit performing arts and educational organizations. We’ve been enjoying getting to know Leah’s sense of humor and detail-oriented work style. This month, Leah wrote her first grants—emergency grants in response to coronavirus. Here’s a little bit from Leah on her first impressions of ZIM:

“I'm surrounded by incredibly sharp and passionate people who, even while juggling pretty high-octane schedules, are unwaveringly flexible and supportive. I joined the ZIM team after spending many years in the academic world, so this has been a wonderfully productive challenge, and it's a joy to be able to leverage my experience as a researcher and educator to support our clients' missions.”

Welcoming Leah onto the team marked a new milestone in ZIM’s journey: it’s the first time we have two team members with the same name!
